 This image was a part of a series of paintings in the "Conexus" series in 2006

The enigma presented here is the constant quest to find genuine connection. There is a sense of time-less space and the person is shrouded in ambiguity so we are left guessing if there are two people or if it is one person reaching out to "source" or True Self inside.

This image came from a free association hunt of symbolic images. The Green Masks are known as "lions" in Chinese culture.

The story goes that once upon a time a monk had a dream in which there were many sorrows and evils plaguing the land. The monk prayed and asked the gods how he could prevent these evils from occurring. The gods told him that a lion would protect them and fight back the evils. The Chinese people had never seen a lion before, but had heard stories that the lion was the king of all the other animals, so the monk combined all the lucky or magical animals he could think of and so made a lion.

With the season of giving upon us there are many options for expressing gratitude and love to our friends and family. By far, nothing is more valuable than sharing quality time and understanding. Another is unique gifts!

I have recently teamed up with an online printing company to offer high quality cards and prints of art to everyone. Through the online gallery you can select the format that you desire in the options menu. In a few days it's delivered right to your door step. The Special editions of prints will not be reprinted for that image so they are truly a collectors item on high quality conservation paper. The post cards or greeting cards can be customized to contain a message that you create for any occasion.

Figurative painting recently - the allure of flesh is on the rise. This is a study of temperature using only three colors. It was magnificent what control and effectiveness using only French Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna and Titanium white has.

"Shores"

Opening Reception   - August 6th, Saturday,  7pm  -  9pm        

 "Shores" features a collection of paintings inspired by a  secluded pacific coast exploration one year ago. Using a  pouring process and intricate methods of applying layers of color, the  paint ebbs and flows under a glassy resin shell.  Listen for the  rhythmic sounds of waves and feel the churning of the currents on the  seashore through these works.

Kenna - Born of Fire

"Kenna - Born of Fire" is a painting done in the style of "alla prima" literally meaning "at once". The French term  is premier coup. It is a style of painting where, instead of building colors  up with layers or glazing  over an underpainting,  the painting is completed while the paint is still wet. Strictly  defined, an alla prima painting would be started and finished in one  painting session, but the term is also more loosely applied to any  painting done in a direct, expressive style, with minimal preparation.

Painters who worked in an alla prima style are as diverse as  Paul Cezanne, John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer,  Caravaggio, Hieronymus Bosch, and Frans Hals.
